Sorry for the delay between posts, but it's been a busy couple of weeks with me getting sick, and being very busy with some work stuff.
First of all, you can now follow my psychopathic rants through twitter, my account is @deadparrot101.
Anyway, today's topic is Crime and Punishment.
I feel like I live in the wild west right now. I go to bed to gun shots every night, and just pray to the good Lord that I don't wake up one morning to find either myself or a member of my family full of bullet holes.
Last night in Omaha, we had 3 shootings in a half hour, and in one of them two little kids when their father 'accidentally' discharged a gun with them in the room.
Now, I'm not for taking guns away from responsible legal gun owners, but we've got to find a way to get them out of the hands of the gang-bangers, meth heads, and all around dregs of society. I don't have an answer for that, but I have an answer for some other things.
First if these kids are so hot to start shooting things up, why not allow the judges to restart the practice of sentencing them to the army. Let them shoot people for their country in Afghanistan and Iraq rather than in the streets of Omaha, L.A., Detroit, New York or any where else in the states. If they don't want to take the military, then prison with out the option of parole, oh and hard labor for them.
I swear, I'm just sick of all the violence around here. This used to be a nice quiet neighborhood, now it's a gangsters paradise it seems.
Oh well, over and out for today!

The Tea Party
So, I went to the Omaha tea party at the court house yesterday. I had a wonderful time amongst my fellow patriots and concerned citizens. The speeches were great, and I met some great people down there. (For those who want to know who I was, I was in the Mystery Manor jacket with the little tiny sign that said "If 10% is good enough for Jesus, then it ought to be enough for Uncle Sam.")
I find it funny that my friends who lean to the left of the political spectrum are making fun of us exercising our right to peacefully protest and petition our government. Of course these are the same people who keep tally of the number of times they've been arrested in their 'peaceful' protests. At least when we gather we respect the laws and opinions of others.
I must say, that listening to Shane Osbourne, I'm really impressed by that young man and I think he has a bright future in both State and National government should he choose that path.
From reading reports of other Tea Parties around the country, I think that Congress and the President have just been made aware of the 800 pound Gorilla in the room, their bosses, the American people.

Lack of Updates
I've been under the weather recently, so I've not had the opportunity to update my Blog here.
I'm planning on attending one of the two TEA PARTY events in Omaha tonight, most likely the one at Millard Library with Rep. Lee Terry. Either later tonight or tomorrow I'll have an update with my thoughts on that.
Also look for my takes on ways to fight crime, reduce the national debt, and other compelling things that concern the conservative movement in this day and age. Those will be posted soon.

My Views: the 'welfare' system
I've been thinking about this over the last few days, and now, I'm going to share it with those who choose to read this blog.
Why are we paying people to not work?
Seriously, dude, why should you get a check (along with food, shelter and utilities) if you are not willing to work for it. I do understand that some people are unable to work (the disabled), but if you are able to work and still living off the state, something is wrong with you.
Oh, and to clarify, I'm not talking about those living off of unemployment insurance either. You pay that insurance when you are working in the form of your tax withholding's for the times when you unexpectedly lose your job and are looking for something new. As long as you are actively looking for a new job, I have no problems with some one collecting their unemployment insurance to get by.
No, it's the people who sit at home, collect welfare and food stamps, live in public housing on MY dime, those are the people I can't understand. I don't work hard and earn my money to pay your way in life. I work hard to get the things I need to live, and a few luxuries here and there when I can afford them.
I consider these people to be the parasites of the human race, and I have a couple of solutions for it.
First, if you draw a welfare check, you are now considered an employee of the state. If they have you doing menial tasks like cleaning debris off the side of the highway, cleaning the bathrooms in public parks, or cleaning the graffiti left by gang bangers and daft kids who don't have sufficient parental supervision. (I mean why let the bad guys out of there 8 x 10 cells do this, when we have a whole class of able bodied people able to do it who are also living on our dime?) Oh, since since you are also an employee of the state now, that means you have to show up on time, pass random drug tests, etc. How quickly do you think these people will go out looking for real jobs, and start pumping up our economy again?
My second, and more harsh option is to end the welfare system entirely. That's right, the housing people live in, they have to pay for it, that food they want to eat, they have to earn it. But we can't have that no, can we.
I work to put a roof over my head, to be able to eat day in and day out. I pay my bills, and I enjoy my hobbies. But then, I'm the bad guy because I do things the way my parents and grand parents did...and I'm not all touchy feely.

An Introduction
Hello, my name is John, and I'm here to write about the political things I think about through the days. I think it's fair that my readers get a chance to know me first, so here it goes.
I was born and raised in the great state of Nebraska, and I still reside there currently. It's wholesome way of life, and laid back lifestyle have molded me into the man I am today.
I'm also a geek, in that I love science fiction, role-playing, Lego bricks, and my computer.
As for my political views, well, I believe that the state is responsible for our defense (in the form of armed forces and police protection.) and for negotiating with other states, and that's it. It's each person's individual responsibility to make their own way in life, and not the state's responsibility to care for you from cradle to grave. If you have a problem with that, then may I suggest this blog is not for you.
My idols in life are John Wayne, Ronald Wilson Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Ted Nugent, Toby Keith, and my Parents.
I'm hoping to update this blog frequently, and to keep you abreast of my views. And as they say the views expressed in this blog are simply my own, not those of Blogger or any other organization.
